This strategy limited the manufacturer to using their carrier’s assets and drivers in every lane – and every transportation manager knows that no carrier is the best carrier in every lane. Adding to the complexity, auto parts get picked up from over 100 suppliers and delivered on a just-in-time (JIT) basis to six assembly plants within 12 to 24 hours.
MODE proved that a 3PL could function as a tightly coordinated unit despite the vast number of carriers and equipment in play.
